On the Plaza :: WIP

pacing peoples
punctuate
quiet lives of desperation
with legal proceedings
and junk food
cookie vendor does
brisk business
hand over hand
cash is exchanged
for diabetic riches.
White women with
flat asses
and their Donna Caren
sunglasses
strut along granite pavers
like red light district
run way models.
No regard for essence
beyond their own.

  1. I love On The Plaza. All of these are so filled with rich imagery that I need some ruminating time. Printed them out and will leisurely do rereads. Have you reworked any or are these first drafts? Your poetry is very powerful and definitely are meant to be read aloud. The west becomes embedded in the psyche, becomes part of the soul and I feel this in your words. If I did not know your current situation, the words could pretain to many different psychological messes. Geez you are really good - I am jealous as I have been stuck for years, unable to write because the discipline has been lost. Will get back to you on suggestions, there were a couple of place where the transitions might flow better, need reworking but all in all - amazing. Love always, Mom
